Local Network Fund helps support LADS.
Launceston Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) Youth Groups (Starting Stars 7-11 years and Youth Theatre Group 12–18 years) recently gave a stunning performance of their talents in the Ambulance Hall.  The event was organised by the Society as a show case for parents, relatives, friends and local businesses and supporters to demonstrate the work of the youth groups.
It was also an opportunity for the Society to announce important support for the youth groups from the Cornwall Community - Local Network Fund.  (LNF supports opportunities for children and young people with specific projects).  This fund will help in the provision of costs associated in supporting and developing the youth programmes and the challenge of undertaking their own performances and one of the aims being to enter the Youth Theatre Group for the 2005 and 2006 All England Festival of One Act Plays.  A highly competitive competition and requires the groups to enter regional and national events.

The evening ended with a formal presentation to Margaret Parker, LADS Chairperson from Jan Jewell of the Local Network Fund confirming financial support towards the projects of the youths programme.  Margaret thanked all those who attended and Jan for the support of the Local Network Fund and said: “The Society offers the youth in our community to take part in drama activities. Our group leaders work with young actors teaching them how to move, speak, take a cue, build a character and create a theatrical climax by working with fellow actors young and old. The selection tonight contains the basic building blocks of theatre, in both acting and presentation.  Several generations of young players have cut their dramatic teeth with LADS youth groups before moving on to perform in larger scale works”.
